Abstract
Steadfastness (Istiqāmah) in the Qur’an, as a fundamental concept, refers to perseverance and firmness in both individual and social spheres, and it plays a crucial role in divine guidance and in shaping the character of a believer. This concept has been examined by Qur’anic scholars from various dimensions. The present study seeks, through a descriptive–analytical method, to provide a precise explanation of the concept of *Istiqāmah* in the Holy Qur’an and to conduct a comparative analysis of it in two prominent Qur’anic commentaries: *Al‑Mīzān*, authored by Allameh Tabataba’i, and *Fī Ẓilāl al‑Qur’ān*, written by Sayyid Qutb.

The findings of this research indicate that in *Al‑Mīzān*, steadfastness possesses a cognitive and wilāyah‑oriented nature, with greater emphasis on constancy in monotheistic faith, adherence to the path of truth, and avoidance of spiritual deviation. In contrast, in *Fī Ẓilāl al‑Qur’ān*, steadfastness is presented as a more practical and action‑oriented concept, closely associated with perseverance in social action, continuous efforts to realize religious values, and the formation of a society founded upon the principle of monotheism. Despite these differences, both commentaries regard steadfastness as an essential condition for attaining divine guidance, spiritual tranquility, and the fulfillment of Qur’anic promises.
