Abstract Self-awareness has ontological, and anthropological foundations. The main ontological foundations of the Quran are categorized in two groups: the foundations of abstract and material entities. The most important abstract foundations are monotheism and believing in God, the existence of invisible creatures, and the outcome, and the major material foundations are the creation of the universe, the creation of the universe for man and the purpose of universe. From the holy Quran’s perspective, each of these foundations affects self-awareness. The foundations of monotheism have a direct relationship with self-awareness. God regards remembering himself as the main cause of insight and self-awareness, and Allah sees His forgetfulness by the creatures as a reason for absent-mindedness and insufficient as well as difficult subsistence in the world and blindness in the hereafter. Knowing Angels and Satan helps human to understand the existence of the abstract beings and find out his abstract qualities by observing the influence of these creatures in human life. In this way, human beings can develop balanced self-awareness in their material and spiritual capacities. Also, faith in the Resurrection Day and friendship are directly related to self-awareness, which plays a major role in the awakening of the human and leads to pure actions, avoidance of hypocrisy and ostentation. And the material foundations raise human awareness of his power in understanding the world and, yet of his inability to understand his incompetence to creator and creation.

The study of the position of the Universe as the material world has a special significance in its purposefulness or instrumentalism in politics. The question is that whether acquiring different dimensions of Universe is the purpose of politics, or it is the mean by which politicians approach to the goals of politics. This research revealed that those who have an independent viewpoint of the universe, consider the universe as the goal of politics. Another group does not value the existence of the universe, and the third group considers it as the mean of achieving the goals beyond the prosperity of the eternal life. This study, by examining the verses of the Quran, attempts to show which group is accepted in the Quran and which is criticized.

Abstract The Sexual behavior before marriage is one of the most important sexual behavior taken into consideration by different religions and school of thoughts. This article, using a descriptive-analytical research method, aimed at investigating the dos and don’ts of the sexual behavior in the holy Quran, the Old Testament, and the New Testament and discussing their different and similar viewpoints on the issue at hand. All these three books emphasized the chastity and continence, and also restraint from incontinence and sexual relationship before marriage. Also, all of them placed emphasis on avoiding homosexuality, masturbation, lechery, wearing make-up among alien girls and boys. The main differences among these books is that there is no clear ban on homosexuality and no mention of masturbation in the Old Testament; however, in the Jewish religious laws some agree and some other disagree with the women’s masturbation. In addition, sodomy, masturbation, and mosaheghe (women’s masturbation) were not mentioned at all, but they have been completely banned in the Quran, and some harsh punishments were considered for the wrongdoers in both this world and the hereafter.

Anathema is a nascent term in the history and literature of Islamic thoughts which has been chosen by a group, namely, the people of tradition and the followers of Ahmad Ebne Hanbal, Ebn Taymieh, and Mohammad Ben Abdolvahab. They are traditionalists in their methodology and literalists and formalists in their understanding of the tradition. They do not appreciate human mind as capable enough to know God. Their only mission is to understand Salfieh’s discourse not more than that. According to Salfieh’s ontology, God is a celestial being sitting in the seventh heaven. God, has additional declarative attributes like hand, soul, modus, which will be seen in the resurrection day by bare eyes. Salfieh’s, in the explanation and interpretation of these attributes from the standpoint of semantics, confines themselves to a superficial and common meanings of these attribute. These groups with their biased and extremist understanding of the profession of God’s unity call themselves theistic. This study tries to shed some lights on the Salfieh’s basic principles in the profession of God’s unity.

The research findings represent that gold, force and duplicity are sources of forming triple layers of unfavorable political power in the Quran. In the first layer, the political power is explicit and is enforced by threatening people. In the second layer, the political power is exerted by wealth and distortion of values. In the third layer, the political power is exerted through making explicit the intention of power agent

Among the interlaced questions in the field of linguistic discussions of the Quran, the question of how the Quran is spoken in cases that addresses men and women, or talk specifically about men and women, and in some cases, according to some scholars and Orientalists, the Quran is influenced by the culture of the male-dominated discourse of time and speaks with biased. This paper examined these doubts and explains some of the reasons for this. The result of this research is that the male Quranic discourse is not influenced by the culture of the time, but the dubious objectors have confused the linguistic discussions of the Quran with verbal or moral issues, and taking an one-sided look at the verses and ignoring the verses with the same subject matter and the meaning as well as the non-observance led to fragmentation of verses and misunderstandings. Also, their ignorance of discussions beyond the source such as the existence of germinal differences between men and women, and the specific roles and the principle of axial similarity, instead of the pivotal alignment, have led to a misunderstanding of this verse. The data of this research were gathered in a library and data processing manner using a critical analysis method

As a social capital, family relationships are important factors in social health and social control. Industrial transformation and individualism have an impact on this relationship so that it is weakened both from the within and from the outside. The rise of social ruptures and generation gaps has also threatened family identity and put it at risk. This study examines the relationship of family support on three levels: spiritual, social and economic. Many verses in the Quran point out to functions of family support having direct relationship with socialization and social control. From the standpoint of the Holy Quran, all family members are responsible for every single civic and social action. The core of emphasis in Quran is on the “relationships” among family members as an essential element of social capital. Social capital has the largest contribution to social control with a minimum cost. Considering changes in functions and family relationships in today’s world and by citing the opinion of many scholars and Quranic verses, this article concludes that family as an important and basic institution of social life will not disappear, and its fundamental role in the generation of social support will continue.

In order to face the challenge of recent centuries in connection with the Holy Quran and dogmatic attitudes of some Orientalists about lack of the Quranic verses in the present era, scientists of the Quranic science raised the scientific magic of the Quran to defend the Holy Quran. The verse known as “Dahvalarz” (Naze’at, 30) is among the verses related to this issue. This study is a descriptive library research and shows the three wonders of the Quran about the earth namely “howness of the initial creation, the movement and spherical shape of the earth”. Thus, the meaning of the verse not only implies a theory involving the throwing the Earth from the sun, rotation and transfer as well as the spherical shape of the Earth but also represents the wonders of the eloquence of the Quran in employing the term “dahv” or “spread” indicating references from the Quran which overtake the facts of science.

The miracle of the Quran is not confined to the rhetoric, but it has several aspects that coordination of the verses and lack of difference in them is one of them. From the very beginning of revelation, enemies by casting doubts, tried to prove contradiction in the verses of the holy Quran. One of these claimed cases of contradiction in the Quran is about the duration of creation of the heaven and earth which is said in seven verse that they were created in six days while it is induced from “Fosselat” chapter that it was created in eight days. The commentators of the holy Quran put forward five answers to this question that two of them are acceptable as the ultimate answer: 1- The four days of measurement of food in Fosselat chapter does not mean the creation of plants, animal and foods only to be eight days with four days for creation of the heaven and earth but two days is for creation of earth, two days for creation of the earth, and two days for creation of the heavens to be the total six days. 2. In Fossalat verses, only the creation of the earth is explained explicitly, so the verb “create” is used but the creation of the earth and heaven is not mentioned, so the verb “sentence” is used instead

Therefore, all verses of the Quran, even transient scientific references, achieve the same goalPointing to factors involved in fertilization and sexual reproduction (male and female gametes) is one of the scientific issues of the Quran with the aim of notifying the signs of monotheism and resurrection. In this study which adopted an analytic and descriptive approach, and it has been done by the notes of reference, the researchers aim to seek the perspective of Quran about the reproduction factors and the creation of embryos(male and female gametes). In this article, after examining the verses related to gametes, it was concluded that the term »maa« refers to expressing absolute or specific features, the term »manie« and its derivatives and the term »solaleh« refer to gametes (sperm and ovule), but the term »notfeh« is absolutely related to gametes in some verses, and indicates the fertilized ovule (zygote) in other verses. The term »notfeh«with a special feature reveals zygote sperm as well as ovul, and accurate scientific points about gametes can be understood through the article.

Based on the teachings of the Quran, sins and good deeds have impact on natural disasters and the fate of the human in the world. One of these natural factors is rain which from the perspective of science, requires a special climate condition to prepare the ground for its occurrence. But the Quran takes the spiritual factors involved in the formation of rain, and considers them as a stimulus for the natural factors. Due to the importance of the subject, the present article aims, with using descriptive-analytic methods, to examine raining and its spiritual factors from the perspective of the Quran. For this purpose, after studying the word of the rain and its functions, the relationship between spiritual factors and natural causes, based on the opinions of commentators, has been analyzed. And finally the article came to this conclusion that three factors of endurance in the religion of Allah, repentance and hopelessness from the apparent causes, were counted as the spiritual factors of raining.

In the history of Islamic sciences, we come across with some subjects common between Islamic philosophy and the Quran, controversial among the men of intellect and interpretation. One of such subjects is that related to soul and spirit. There are three views among the Islamic thinkers regarding the truth and creation of soul and spirit: 1. The immaterial spirit of man has been created before the body. This is approved by some narrations. 2. The immaterial spirit and the material body have been created simultaneously and the moment when the body of man has achieved the capacity of accepting the spirit, God has created the spirit in it. 3. The spirit of man comes into existence in the body and remains as a sprit. That is, the immaterial spirit of man has neither been created before his body not together with his body, rather the spirit is the manifestation of the appearance of a material body that comes into existence together with the appearance of the body and reaches its spiritual immateriality through essential development. In this article, we are going to discuss the different views given by the Quran and Islamic philosophy regarding the soul and spirit. To do this, first we will deal with different meanings of soul and spirit in the Quran and among the philosophers, and then we will have an analysis and a criticism of the given views.

The distinction between positive and normative has long history in economics methodology and some economists considered the separation of facts and values as criteria to science and non-science. In the case of Islamic economists, it was also claimed that Islamic economists is a set of values Therefore, it cannot be considered as a science. So exploration of the positive aspects of economy in religious sources is necessary. This paper uses a descriptive analytical method to extract positive economic texts (in material and spiritual progress) that suggest a causal link between external phenomena, as "if A then B". Findings showed that in the Quran there are positive economic statements. According to different epistemological foundations of conventional economics and Islamic economics, some positive statements can be justified on the basis of non-material causes and it cannot be justified by purely material attitude. According to the verses of the Quranic economy, material causes such as physical capital, Charity, avoidance of corruption, and immaterial factors such as human resources, the implementation of the law in the society, appreciate the blessings, faith and piety, forgiveness, perseverance in the right way, immigration, and pray to God are the causes of material and spiritual progress in the Quran.

Saying prayer as a kind of supplication and religious practice is meant for establishing an growing and direct relationship between God Almighty and men and interestingly is commonly found in all divine religions of the world. Muslims and Zoroastrians are required to practice this worshiping act. The present research, drawing on the written resources of Islam and Zoroastrianism and following a library research method, aimed to compare saying prayer as manifested in the above mentioned heavenly religions i.e. Islam and Zoroastrianism. Furthermore, the similarities and the differences between these two religions in terms of saying prayer were studied. The results suggested that saying prayer enjoys a high status in both Islam and Zoroastrianism. In addition, a number of similarities between Islam and Zoroastrianism were found including positive effects of saying prayer on human beings’ relations with God, its purifying effect on everyone’s soul, its manifestation as a symbol of thanking God for his numerous blessings, the daily schedule of saying prayers for five times, and the religious age when saying prayer is required as a religious practice. The research also suggested that saying prayer is on a par with other kinds of worshiping in Zoroastrianism while it is the cornerstone and the main axis of religion in Islam. Therefore, Islamic style of saying prayer has no alternative and must be practiced consecutively and nonstop, enjoys a proliferated set of types of practice, and whether other kinds of worshiping practices would be accepted or rejected by God depends on acceptance or rejection of one’s saying prayer. Such an approach towards saying prayer was not found in Zoroastrianism

The role of Islamic Philosophy and Philosophers in flourishing Islamic civilization is unavoidable, and the role of the Quran in forming Muslims’ intellectual and philosophical thought is of the most important questions and issues. It seems comprehensiveness of the Quran in introducing universal teachings for setting the foundation of human’s real happiness gives the book the power to render and explain some philosophical teachings concerning theology, anthropology, ethics, politics and society which they have guided Muslim thinkers including preachers and philosophers. Hence, considering the philosophical system of the early Muslim philosophers, such as Farabi and Ibn Sina, provides ample evidence of the effects of the Quran on their philosophical system among which the most important ones are centrality of theistic ontology and special manifestations of epistemology. By paying special attention to universal virtues of the Quran and mentioning some of its philosophical teaching, the current paper aims to examine the effects of the Quran on such Islamic philosophers as Farabi and Ibn Sina in order to show the fact that Islamic philosophy, in spite of some its non-Islamic sources, has gotten its Islamic virtue only in the light of philosophical and intellectual teachings of the Quran.

Religious innovation is a legal precedent to be added or reduced without any documentation from the Quran or tradition. God endowed people with a perfect religion leaving no way for addition or subtraction in it and said “pure religion is Only for God, and it is the only acceptable religion for Him" (Zomar / 3). However, there have been always people who consciously or unconsciously attributed some irrelevant issues to it, and such irrelevant issues led to the religious innovations. This article examines the semantics of innovation in all aspects of innovation such as the emergence of innovation and examples of innovation by using thematic interpretation and qualitative content analysis. Indeed, innovation is comprised of three things: 1. The manipulation of religious matters including the Principles and Parameters by addition and subtraction, 2. promoting it among the people, and 3. The absence of specific or general religious reasons for the innovation. It is clear from this statement that any activity in which these three elements are present can be regarded as innovation, and it is not innovation at all in the absence of one or all of these elements. The first step for dealing with innovations is to inform the truth of religion to the public. The second step is to avoid blind imitation. And the third step refers to extricate yourself from heretics. Establishment of a system to promote virtue and prevent vice will help prevent innovation from promotion and implementation in the society.

But howness of this return is placed under the category of bodily resurrection which has been explained in different ways in the teachings of the three religions. The resurrection in the divine religions of Islam, Christianity and Judaism, is physical. The physical resurrection is explained in the Holy Quran and Bible passages both similarly and differently in different cases. The emphasis on the resurrection of the body and the return of the body from the soil are among the characteristics of bodily resurrection in both Quran and Bible. In this regard, the extent and scope of the teachings of the Quran and the Bible have some differences. Among the differences of the bodily resurrection in the Quran and the Bible are speaking human organs and inanimate objects, animal’s resurrection, resemblance of divine body with earthly body, the fate of human body. There is also a great deal of common ground between the Quran and the Bible.

As relative freedom from dangers and threats, feeling of security imbues the individual with physical and mental peace and plays a vital role in safeguarding the mental and social health of the society. On the contrary, feeling of insecurity, in the form of dangers and threats, agitates the individual and, thus, the society. This article is an attempt to investigate the relationship between feeling of security and mental health and vice versa in the Holy Quran. It addresses the questions: Which factors generate feeling of security and, consequently, mental health? Which factors threaten them? The following hypotheses were developed accordingly: Remembrance of Allah in one s beliefs and behavior generates feeling of security and mental health while feeling of weakness, poverty and avoidance of Allah s remembrance all threaten them. This is a documentary research based on the Holy Quran, Qura nic exegeses and some books on psychology. The results indicate that those remembering Allah enjoy mental security, peace and health while those who fail to remember Him suffer from mental insecurity. Avoidance has two meanings in the Quran: Avoidance of the world and avoidance of Allah . Mankind would attain mental security, peace and health through avoidance of the world.

Included among the major factors contributing to this purpose, looked at from a Quranic perspective, are to observe moral principles and values such as piety and religiousness, to take on moral virtues, to be of equal position and proportion, to look for noble lineage in opting for one’s marriage partner, to show compassion and affection to one’s spouse, to assume responsibility for one’s family members specifically as regards to moral and ideological issues, to control one’s sexual tendencies and to direct them towards a system of marriage [rather than other types of sexual partnership], to maintain one’s moral obligations towards one another, to respect the rights of other family members, to reduce family conflicts and find a logical and fair method of conflict resolution.

According to the teachings of the Holy Quran, purification (tazkīyah) and education (ta’līm) are the two basic principles for the discipline of human beings, out of which purification is of a higher significance. Knowledge resembles some seeds the growth of which requires a suitable ground and purification serves as the ground for a perfect growth of such seeds without which knowledge will be partial and insufficient or even misleading. This study uses an analytic-descriptive methodology to review the Quranic verses concerning purification and education and the significance and the relation between these two Quranic concepts.
